Well I think this is the right place to post this, if not sorry.
Well I was wanting a new toy tired of my f150 supercrew. I've always liked the boxy Montero body's, so while out of state (KY) working I poked around on Craigslist and found a early 91 Ls with 5 speed. I contacted the poster and made a deal going by just pictures. The drivers door got tweeked by her backing up with the door open and getting hung up on her dudes car. So before I even got the Monty I bought a new door from AL. Two weeks later after finishing up the job I drove the 4 hours south to Hamburg Arkansas to get her. My wife thought I was crazy but as always was up for a road trip.

Well it was love at first sight, drove her around for a few and said yep sold. Well between the first contact and me showing up some body stole the radio out of her, and the interior was pretty tore up. So down came the price got her for only $1500 with just a 120,000 miles. The ride home was great the bouncy seat is awesome!

After only being home a hour or so up to my shop to replace the busted up door. Really simple swap. The back home to order up some much need parts. Need a roof rack and basket as my two boys and I go camping a lot and I go to the shooting range I had to have better tires. The ones that came on the Monty was brand new I easily sold them to a good buddy. After a few days UPS dropped off some boxes.

Bought some led flood lights for the back and a led light bar for the front. At the same time I really hate chrome so black out time. And I made some drawers from some scrap aluminium I had up at the shop, for stashing some gear for camping.

Had to add a bike rack for the bikes, along with first aid kit and fire extinguisher for safety. Starting to take shape.

After the first outing and a busted windshield oops limb risers was a must. But I wasn't going to pay out the nose for some, so time to hit my scrap barrels, 20 mins (or so)later limb risers done.

Ok I know this is overkill but I like them so got some new led headlights and again not wanting to spend any money I made robbed the scrap barrel and welded up some "angry eyes"

Decided to take a easy day and just relax after doing nothing all day haha. But I did finely mount up my real spare tire.

Adding a dual battery set up now for the fridge and to run my lights, cb, charging ports, winch(come on anytime now UPS)off of. Added a 2" body lift for a little more tire clearance. Still need to install my snorkel and a few other things. But it getting close to Christmas so time to divert my money to that. More to come after Christmas is over.
 
Love this! I have always had a soft spot for montys. My in-laws have a 94 monty that I keep bugging them to sell.. To me. My wife on the other hand wants nothing to do with it. Good looking build.

Thanks! I'm lucky as the wife let's me do whatever with my cash, as long as the bills get paid first, pretty simple deal. She(Monty) is a blast to have. If you can swing it get the in-laws to let go.

I can swing it. I will make it happen. Its got factory locking diff too.. Just gotta get them to let it go lol

Awesome! Thats on my list of to do. I've found a clapped out 95 sr at the local LKQ, I need to go pull it out. It's supposed to be a pretty simple swap.
I haven't need it yet, but as all things go I would rather have it and not need it that need it and not have it.
