    RULES AND TERMS OF SERVICE

The American Adventurist Forum is intended to provide a warm, friendly atmosphere for the American Adventurist Community. In order to maintain order and a sense of community, all users should read and follow the rules listed below. By participating in the forum, users are affirming their willingness to comply with these terms.

This site respects the American traditions of free speech without politically correct censorship with the following caveats:

    The Staff

-Our Moderators are people just like you. Please treat them with respect.

-At American Adventurist, our Members are more important to us than blind adherence to policy or the rigid application of rules. We go out of our way to apply common sense and find compromises when we can within the framework of what is best for the member, and what is best for this Community.

-We reserve the right to modify and amend these terms at any time without notice. It is your responsibility to remain informed of current American Adventurist policies, and it is our responsibility to keep this site safe and fun to use.

    Forum Rules

    1. If you post it, you own it. Stand by to discuss. Failure to respond to logical challenge and debate in an intelligent and civil manner is unacceptable here.

    2. Cite your references, use real data, and give credit to authors and photographers whenever possible.

    3. No flaming. No drama. No public arguments. If you disagree with someone, if someone is wrong on the internet and you simply must intervene, take it to PM rather than ruining the topic for everyone else.

    4. Use of offensive and inflammatory language, name calling, and bashing members is discouraged here. Rude, combative posting and self-victimization are also discouraged.

    5. Trolling is prohibited. If you post just to get people riled up, that's trolling. Don't be a Troll.

    6. American Adventurist is not a political site. No politics or religion, please save these polarizing topics for a real Campfire. We support the 1st and 2nd Amendments, but there are other places to discuss those subjects.

    7. American Adventurist has a zero-tolerance policy regarding racism, sexual harassment, discrimination, or any behavior deemed to be intentionally abusive or inappropriate. Do not make posts that directly, or indirectly, debase or dehumanize the opposite sex. Personal, Racial, Ethnic, and/or Gender based insults, slurs, or derisive comments will be deleted on sight.

    8. No sexually explicit material or remarks. We'd like for our members to be able to visit the site at work without worry over any inappropriate content.

    9. Privacy is important. American Adventurist will not release any member information unless under court order to do so. Do not post other's personal information online, this includes PM's. We do not monitor private messages, but we will investigate all allegations of PM abuse.

    10. Users may not have multiple accounts, and we do not allow registration of individuals under the age of 18. We reserve the right to disable any account created with fictitious registration information.

    11. Your purpose in joining American Adventurist should not be purely to promote, advertise, or otherwise call attention to your site, blog, product, or business unless you have prior permission from the site owner. If you are interested in Sponsoring, advertising or promoting with American Adventurist send Dave a PM.

    12. Self-promotional links to your blog, site, video channel, product, business, etc. are limited to your forum signature and your user profile. Vendors who are not site Sponsors may not send unsolicited PM's to our members. Memberships created solely for these purposes will be Banned.

    13. All Member complaints need to be communicated privately using either PM or the "Report this Post" feature. In the event of this, the offending post may be edited or removed upon review by a Moderator, and the offender shall receive no more than two warnings (strikes) via PM, or publicly, from a Moderator.

    14. Three strikes will result in a week long Ban. If the negative activity continues, they may receive a permanent Ban.

    15. We reserve the right to remove, modify or move posts at our discretion and without explanation.

    16. We do not remove user accounts, user threads, or user posts on request.

If there are any rules or policies you do not understand, please contact a Moderator.

    Forum Etiquette

    1. Use descriptive subject lines and research your post. This reduces the chances of double-posting, and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Scan the subjects of the last several days posts to make sure you aren't duplicating posts. Also, consider what forum your topic should be posted in.

    2. Restrict the use of foul language. Excessive swearing will not be tolerated on this site.

    3. Bloggers and Outdoor Industry Insiders: We ask that you give us a solid "intro" to your article/blog post etc that includes 2-3 quality photos to illustrate the best of your experience/product and a brief executive summary or synopsis of the subject with your link. This will more than likely encourage our readers to learn more and tells readers you're enthusiastic about ________ and that they should enjoy the subject too.

    4. Sponsors and Vendors: American Adventurist was founded on telling it like it is. That said, if you are a sponsor, vendor or manufacturer here and your product comes up in discussion, American Adventurist has no responsibility to defend you or your business. If you make it or sell it, you own up to it. Stand by to discuss. Failure to respond to logical challenge and debate in an intelligent and civil manner is unacceptable. We will make no special rules for your benefit at the cost of our Members. Your reputation is everything - Earn it.
