Next weekend is the annual Field Day where clubs set up public temporary field stations. The clubs attempt to see how many connections they can make as part of a competitive event, but they also use this time to educate people on radios, radio jargon and communications. The Amatuer Radio Relay League (ARRL) is intended to be able to supply emergency communications for government information and services in a disaster scenario. The annual field day is away to test out that capability.
