The Random Thoughts Thread

It was never meant to be a Mexico safety thing. Chicago has been a sore spot for me, lost one of my guys there while he was home on leave.

Interesting that Baja Norte and Baja Sur weren't on the handy graphs that were posted. I have no experience in mainland Mexico, I'll defer to @woodienut for his comfort level in that part of the world.

You have your random thoughts Bobby, I have mine... what's the problem? It's the Random Thoughts thread and I watched "Sicario" last night.

Momentary thread drift:

Who has the ecodiesel 1500 and how do they like it? My dream truck right now is a Ram 2500, but I'd be just as happy with the 1500 ecodiesel. I took one for a spin and it was like driving a Mercedes. I was very impressed compared to the F-150. (although the larger ecoboost Ford motor was peppy!).

My daughters boyfriend has one. It's nice and gets great mpg but that damn thing was expensive.

Do a price comparison between the 1500 EcoDiesel and the 2500 Cummins. You get a lot more truck for the money with a 2500.

@woodienut, you running into any of the turmoil over gas price hikes in Mexico? They actually closed the San Ysidro crossing yesterday due to a protest.

Anyone planning a Baja/Mexico trip, right now isn't going to be the best time. The government runs the gasoline industry in Mexico (Pemex, from drill to pump), the government recently raised gas prices by 20%, resulting in protests blocking gas stations and fuel delivery infrastructure locations. No deliveries, no fuel at the pumps. More changes to the fuel delivery/infrastructure (privatization of gas stations/fair market pricing with no subsidies) is said to be coming in March.

^^^^Our gas prices are like a 'gatekeeper obstacle", you have to want to come to California!

I often wonder if Sasquatch would prefer anchovy and peanut butter pizza over raw frog if they knew what they were missing....

No, I'm currently in Puerto Vallarta and there's gas, but the price has gone up quite a bit! I had been putting in about $700/800 pesos in at every fill, the last one was $1000! So that's about $35/40 per tank (15 or so gals.) to $50.00 US. Still cheaper than California but not much. [emoji41][emoji1166]

Really the only issue I've run in to is the gorf's (that's Frogs backwards) French Canadians are pain in the ⚠️.
A waiter asked if I knew the difference between and québécois and a canoe? I said no, he said a canoe might tip once and I while!
He told one québécois the only thing that came out of Quebec was hockey players and hookers! The guy said hey, my wife is from Quebec! The waiter asked what position does she play?
Goodnight everybody, don't forget to tip your waiter!

Kylynne's mom needed a place to store her Harley Davidson motorcycle since her boyfriend died and the house is being sold. I graciously accepted the bike to store in my garage until she can sell it and found out that it wouldn't start...D'OH! Wouldn't you know that rain makes you stay inside so I tinkered away and soon enough, Sunday afternoon, a loud ROAR emanated from the garage....nothin' like a free Harley to ride when I feel like it in exchange for "storage"...should I grow a beard?
The beard is mandatory!

Possible issues for Baja/Mexico travelers getting fuel.

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/12/31/long-gas-lines-price-hike-mar-holiday-season-in-mexico.html

When I'm in Baja I start looking for a fill up as soon as the miles to walk gauge gets below 1/2 a tank.

I was in Baja 12/30 - 1/3. Driving in to San Quintin on the 30th, I noticed very long lines at all the Pemex stations and started to worry that I may not be able to fill up for the trek to Gonzaga Bay on the 1st. First thing in the morning on the 31st we drove back out to town to search for gas and all of the stations in town were out of gas! I thought of the Pemex right next to the Los Pinos packing plant about 6 miles south of town. Los Pinos is a very powerful entity around there so I figured that they would make sure their station had gas and I was right! After a 30 minute wait in line, our tank was full. There were no problems filling up at the Pemex at Rancho Grande (Gonzaga Bay) on the 2nd and that fill up got us through the border at Mexicali.

Get yourself a bottle of red locktite and your all set![emoji241]

On a side note, I'm very sorry to hear about Kylynne's mothers loss, but does Kylynne get her looks from her mom?

Too soon? [emoji51][emoji379]

Yes, very sad.

So...?

And how does she feel about grey hair, log cabins and wolfey looking dogs?
