Road Conditions

Is there a thread or link to get road conditions in various backcountry areas around the country, like washouts, maintenance, washboards, sandy, high clearance, trail rating, rock crawling, experience needed, etc? Is that something we could start here, so new to overlanding people could get updated info on an area before adventuring in? Possibly alone?

My SOP is to call the local LE or rangers about road conditions in an area where I intend to travel. Its work, but IMO it's boots on the ground experience from the people who live it. Tough to beat.

Couple that with reports from people here who have traveled the area, and I think it's a great resource.

Trails.com has a lot of the info you may be looking for. I am unaware of any organization that collects such data and publishes it on line for free. There are often local clubs that have the info you want.
