Project Land Yacht : 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Build.

That radio mount is perfect. I forgot all about them, but I have 2 of those cradles around here somewhere. I am going to have to look for them
I'm taking the truck to work today so we will see how the mount holds up through my commute. I'm sure it will be great.

I've never seen those before but it looks like a great solution. I'll have to check it out.

So in preparation for our week long trip to the grand canyon and overland expo, I started looking into solar panels since my truck will be powering my ARB fridge and other items for the entire week, and I really don't want to have to run the truck to keep my batteries fully charged. After doing some research and reading some reviews, I settled on a renogy 100w foldable kit. I am sure I could have built the same setup for less money, but let's be honest... I don't want to.. I wanted something I could just unfold and hook to my battery. Now the wait for the delivery....

Haven't been doing much to the truck lately, just enjoying it as much as I can.. but after some talks with Bernard at Leitner designs, we are working on something to help with storage, and the great thing about this is, it's fairly easy to remove so I can still use my camper when needed...

Very cool! Having them parked next to you for a weekend worked on your mind didn't it? I was looking heavily at it and have been considering getting rid of my All Pro rack in favor of this design ever since first seeing it at DRV.

You know it. I've camped with Bernard quite a few times and I've always been thinking about his product.. it's time to make this a reality...

I don't think we did. Nice to possibly have met you too :D. The YJ will be at Los coyotes for a weekend. Hopefully you can make it out.
I came by camp looking for my kid since she loves Bob and Machelle , so I figured she would be over there... I should be at the Los coyotes trip in mid october..

So I've been racking my brain thinking about how I want to set up the Leitner acs rack.. right now my thoughts are two gear pods on each side of the rack toward the front of the bed..

Then 2 diesel rotopax behind the gear pods on the drivers side...

And 2 water storage rotopax behind the gear pods on the passenger side..

I thought about hi lift jack mounts but I have a bottle jack I use most of the time and have never been a fan of the hi lift. I also though about maxtrax mounts but I have a set of foldable "Tred" tracks that stay under my seat.. I'm open to any other suggestions anyone has on how they would set the acs up....

A few preliminary photos.. headed down to Leitner designs early this morning and Bernard installed this for me while I did an outstanding job supervising. It looks a little bare because I haven't bought any accessories yet because I am trying to figure out how I want it set up. More pics to come...

Big thanks to Leitner designs for the install, and it was great to see you guys and Atlas again!

Some more detailed photos.. the more I look at this rack, the more I realize that the craftsmanship and build quality of these racks is 2nd to none.. I am impressed..

And the extra center brace included in the long bed versions, cuz we got lots of space to cover!!

Looks good. On the inside I would add some quick fists for a shovel and axe mount. I would also just get a couple of more universal plates to not only add rigidity but to have to mount whatever else you desire..... You could add a first aid kit to one :)

What is your plan for the camper?

Ad of now, the plan is to keep the camper, as it's only 4 clamps on each side of the rack, and 6 bolts to undo and the rack will easily come off. Wife and I are in talks about what to with the camper. While it's nice to have all those bells and whistles, we are finding that it doesn't really fit the type of camping we like to do, as most of our camping is 2 or 3 nights at most, and honestly it'd just not worth the effort it takes to load the camper, since I don't keep it on the truck full time. We may sell it. We are toying with the idea of a Mt. Denali 3-4 person rtt, but at this point it's just all speculation.
