Oz tent RV-2, base camp

Well I'm happy to report the Oz Tent held up well to the Moab wind and rain last week. Not sure if the Drifta pole kit made a difference. Some other tents didn't hold up so well. The tent seem to retain heat when the lows reached into the upper thirties!! As for deploying the tent on a daily basis I don't think I will be doing that. Great for base camp but moving daily not so much.

After spending the last two weekends in my Oz tent I found a couple things that irritated me. One, the zippers on the Drifta bag have no pull cords. Two, the straps that come with the tent for compression to store the tent are 1” buckle/strap combo black and easily lost. To rectify that I added some orange pull chords to the zipper pulls and 2” buckle/strap combo. The orange really helps with locating the zipper pulls and straps.

Another three days/nights in the Oz Tent had Stacey and I wanting an easier way to hang jackets, gear and other clothes to air out/dry. First seen Snow Peaks gear strap daisy chain https://snowpeak.com/collections/containers-coolers/products/long-daisy-chain?variant=7525140922396
Of course super cool at a Snow Peak price. So puttering around Cabela’s looking for some roll cam straps to tie down the blade of my Pull Pal down I stumbled across this. https://www.cabelas.com/product/NITE-IZE-INC-GEARLINE-ORGANIZATION/1880786.uts?slotId=13

Similar to SP but at a better price point. Went on our trip and found that the Gearline would have been a great addition. While out and about camping I got signal on my phone and ordered it. Found it on Amazon a few bucks cheaper.

So today while performing many chores one has after returning from vacation I had time to install the Nite Ize gear line.

If your tent is ever swept over a cliff and it gets caught up in a tree, your gear will be safe.:D Aid climbing stuff is rated at probably 3000 lbs or more LOL. I use a quick draw for my truck key. Can't be too careful!

Now now remember that daisy chains are only strength rated at the ends, the intermediary loops are only 2-3kn. And dont cross clip between the loops :D

Just returned for a week long trip in rainy British Columbia. Lighting in the Oz tent is pretty dark on a sunny day, but on dark rainy days it’s real bad. Stacey bought me a Luminoodle for my birthday this year so this was the perfect opportunity to try it out! https://smile.amazon.com/Luminoodle...encoding=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0&ie=UTF8

Installed it along the top cross bar under the Velcro that attaches the canvas to the frame work. Added a ton of useful light. I will be adding a second one at some point in time to replace the Snow Peak Hozuki lights.

Guess the images don’t do it justice. The light really makes a huge improvement in lighting!
