Lunar Eclipse Coming

For those looking for an excuse to get out and do a little night photography, or even just a fine adult-beverage-sipping and viewing party, there will be a total lunar eclipse visible - weather permitting - on the west coast on the night of Wednesday January 31st.

Lunar eclipses only occur during full moons, but this will actually be a Super Moon (larger and brighter than the norm) and rather than turn black, the moon turns deep red, a so-called "Blood Moon".

Lots of sites on the web on photographing Lunar Eclipses. Here's one:

Cool! Tonight's full moon is said to be one of your garden variety super moons.

I'm not much of an astronomer (Google Sky is my limit) catching the solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse in this short of a period of time is cool.
