Looking for a Southern California camping location near dunes?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to plan a short two night camping trip out to our local desert east of San Diego county, and I was hoping to locate a spot near some sand dunes for the kids to experience on foot. I know there are plenty of dunes used by recreational desert goers but I just want to reach out to you guys and see if anyone had a more secluded spot in mind (possibly somewhere the large toy haulers have difficulty getting to.) Thank you!!

The old Navy Beach just across Highway 86 from Anza-Borrego doesn't see too much traffic. The dunes are smallish (thus less traffic), but there's a few spots in there that can feel as epic/secluded as Glamis on a summer weekday. There's lots of ruins from the old base on site to explore too.
