Hi everyone, new to the site, figured a quick intro of my truck would be the easiest way to say hi.
I'm Joshua, part of a small company that specializes in Mitsubishi & 4WD's. Adventure Driven Design started in 2016 to support the 12-time Dakar winning chassis; the Montero. But I'm not here to spam, so I'll can that talk.
Goldi-locker - My 1999 Montero purchased in LA quite about 3 years ago to fill the Montero void in my life. When I moved from Michigan to the southwest, I had planned to be without a Montero and just focusing on work... work didn't last long, life without a Montero didn't last long either. After starting a company based around these things it became a 'stock comparison truck' in other words, it was stock... we used it for a baseline comparison. I tolerated riding on KYB's and made due with 31" tires, daily drove the truck and showed up to any wheeling trip I could, showed how much you can do with a low budget truck.
After 2 years of moderate to heavy use for a stock truck, it held up great. I recently installed a new denso alternator, new trans lines, added new fluid and put in a fresh-from-the-dealer coolant reservoir. Then stabbed four new Bilstein 5100 shocks and stainless skid plates. The truck will be a very mild build, mostly set-up for camping and light trail use. Potentially a cross-country road trip once a year will be in it's future.
Recently I installed 33" Yokohama tires, soon it gets 4.90 gearing to keep the MPG optimal. Currently I have upper and lower control arms with new Siberian Poly bushings and chromoly ball joints that I need to install. Then, after I complete the body lift install I'll put the sliders on. For now, it's mostly trail ready and gets used often.
I'll add more as the progress goes. Thanks for the space.
