Canoe on a 2 door

Looking for a effective way to carry a canoe on a 2 door. I usually put it on a trailer but this event is a no trailer event.

Roof racks are a ton of money. Is there a cheaper way to run a canoe especially over rough terrain?

What vehicle? Hard top or soft top? Front or rear reliever hitch?

Could you do it the way NC Islandrunner showed but use those foam blocks to protect your top? Just one set over the roll bar and than ratchet strap the hell out of it?

Buddy of mine uses a hitch extender out of his rear receiver and window frame mounted rack up front that works pretty well and is easily removable when he doesn't need it.

Bikini top was on, foam blocks would be a plus.

I use these with some para cord and it holds tight.

cut a slice in a couple of pool noodles and slip em over the edges of the canoe where it contacts the top and strap it down.

Rugged Ridge lent me their sherpa rack for the event. Should hold a canoe nicely
