I really enjoy seeing old iron bridges of early 20th century construction. These are some pictures I took on my 2.5 month trip across the west. Bridges cross both troubled and tranquil waters and help us reach the safety of the other side. They create a union of otherwise distant shores...Enjoy and add if you like.

I'm thinking one of those earlier bridges was in Montana Dan... it looked kind of familiar. This was in the same neck of the woods but of more recent construction...

Then there were some where you had to move the planks to advance across as some had wandered off...

Old railroad bridge rising up out of an ancient forest along The Trail of the Hiawatha, St. Joe NF Road 456. Old Telegraph lines.

A couple of old pics of an old bridge somewhere in WV. The first is of my dad in the foreground and my jeep in the background. The second is of the plate at the top of the bridge. I tried zooming in to read the date but it didn't come out clearly enough.

I guess you could say I have an affinity for bridges, but I can think of worse things... the 1st 2nd and 4th pix are places I metal detect and explore looking for artifacts and guns.
