Austin’s Jeep JLU - “The Billet Bullitt”

Figured 10 years was long enough to go without a Wrangler. This is my third Wrangler and seventh Jeep overall. Picked up a new JLU last week. Sport S model in the 3.6 with the 44 rear axle and a 6 speed. So far it has been a blast to drive and is a major improvement over my old JK and even older TJ. Main purpose of this vehicle will be daily driving and getting off the beaten path with the family from point A to B with huge grins on their faces.

Did a little bumper chop today, because, why not. A little more tire clearance until I can decide on bumpers.

The inevitability of owning a Jeep has already arrived. Starting out with the Rancho 3.5” Sport Suspension System and a set of VTX Outlaw wheels in a 17” x 8.5”. Control arms, track bars, upgraded shocks, etc. will come at a later date as my needs evolve and budget allows. Still need to decide on a tire size and which tires to go with but I’m sure that will happen fairly soon. Install pics to come soon!

Mounted up the VTX Wheels “Outlaw” with the stock tires. Had to make room in the house! 35”s coming soon, fingers crossed.

I think 35's are perfect on the JL, so many people blabbering on about 37's and 40's... with my stock 4.10's and 35's I can still see 8th gear on the freeway BUT I think a regear to 4.56 may be in my future. Even going up one tire size starts the domino effect!

I agree. I had 35”s on my JK and 4.88’s. It was also the 3.8 with the auto. The JL is already more peppy and with the 6sp manual I think 35”s and 4.56 will be great.

Took off the steps and added a set of Rubicon sliders. In my opinion these offer full length rocker protection for the best value. Especially when you score them dirt cheap off of Craig’s. Also added some flair to the back window with some AA swag.

Picked up another Ultimate Reflector sun shade for the JL. I’ve ordered these for every vehicle I’ve had. Best shade available IMHO.

Picked up a Rugged Ridge hitch receiver on sale for $69.99! Will be perfect for the bike rack and accessories until I figure out a rear bumper option.
