3 day relaxation @ the lake

The wife & I had a chance to get away from the farm for 3 days, 2 nights headed to the lake to just relax. We adopted a new traveling partner about 2 months ago, another Rat Terrier, older dog.....about 9 or so years old, her name is Lily, she was born deaf. From what we gather she never been camping, seems she enjoyed herself, she does love rides. In the mornings we watch the Canadian Geese fly in about 2 dozen of them. Hardly any one was their, just us & another camper in a Airstream.

We finished up our pre-planning for our trip in November of this year to run the Arkansas Section of TAT again to test out the new rear differential I had installed (Truetrac Torsen) especially on Warloop Rd. which is the most difficult part of the route. Warloop Rd starts out as a maintained dirt road, then changes to an unmaintained turning into a "right of way" dirt road through private land about a mile then changes back to a maintained dirt road. It starts off fairly easy then it becomes whole lot more difficult in that mile section, there are some large rocks protruding through the road, including rock shelves, deep ruts off on the shoulder (hill side), & a steep drop off (on the other side). A lot can change since the last time we done that section. Back then between the truck & camper done great taking our times going through that section, but again a whole can change in that time frame being unmaintained. We done it with stock GM Limited Slip Differential w\ friction clutches.

Sally & I are in pre-planning stages of our 2025 trip in May for the eastern section of The Pony Express Trail that starts in St Joseph, Missouri to Salt Lake City, Utah, again we are doing 1\2 of the route which is about 800 miles. Most of that route will be pavement with dirt roads. After that then we are look into the western section of the route another time. I do have my eye on Onion Creek Trail in Utah for another trip in the future.
