We are very excited to bring more classes and discussions to the Rendezvous Events. These classes are open to all attendees

Friday 2/23
9:30 - 12:30 Introduction to Orienteering with Matt @Matt
  • This will be a hands-on basic class about how to use a map and compass together
  • Form teams and practice your new skills on a multipoint land navigation course

3:00 - 5:00 General Off-Road Knowledge with Pitts 4x4 Co.
  • Environmental Awareness
  • Vehicle Systems
  • Driving Skills
  • Spotting
  • Convoy Driving
  • Intro to Recovery

5:00 - 6:00 Fire Starting with Mike @azmiik
  • It's not playing with fire if you’re learning, join us to learn more about primitive fire starting techniques, tips on being prepared, and hands-on practice with flint and steel.

8:00 - 9:00 Night Photography with Richard @richard310 and Chad @Chad
  • General camera settings for long exposures
  • Setup and other equipment
  • Environmental effects and ambient light
  • Camera and lens types and different uses
  • How to: Milky way photos
  • Post editing (Lightroom/Photoshop)
  • Hands-on please bring your own camera and tripod preferably with a wide angle lens.
Saturday 2/24​

9:30 - 10:30 Compass for Overland Kids with Katrina Main @azmiik
  • Learn the basics of compass use for navigation. We will be covering the parts of a compass, basic use of a compass,
    and how to use a compass to find direction to a point.

11:00 - 12:00 Kids Scavenger Hunt with AAV Staff
  • Join the American Adventurist Staff for a desert camp themed scavenger hunt.

1:00 - 2:00 Kids Paracord Bracelet with Paige @Blkwgn_wyfee and Erika @Erikakay
  • Learn to make a survival style bracelet with paracord

1:00 - 3:00 Vehicle Recovery with Pitts 4x4 Co., @Deadman Offroad, and @Step 22 Gear
  • Stuck Assessment

3:00 - 4:00 Dutch Oven Cooking and Care with Andy
  • Be prepared to cook for your next camping trip or the Dutch Oven Competition
  • charcoal vs wood
  • starting your coals and what type of fire coals to use
  • adjusting temperatures
  • preparing the oven
  • cooking methods (top or bottom heat)
  • cleaning up and seasoning
