2002 KJ...not so much a build.

I initially purchased my 2002 KJ as a family hauler to take my 88 YJ off of the road in the spring of 2003. As many jeep owners, we can't leave well enough alone...so I lifted it the first time 1) full Old Man Emu suspension and some TJ Rubicon take offs (245x75/16). This combo was great until I added my front ARB bar. The springs that I had were medium duty and not up to the task of the heavy bumper so the front end was revisited.

2) I purchased Old Man Emu HD (gas) springs. This combo work great for a few years until I added my winch, which caused the front end to dive yet again. I ended up keeping this setup from 2006 until 2009 that's when I purchased my third setup.

3) Old Man Emu 790 front lift springs for a 2.8L CRD diesel liberty. This combo was the ticket! Coupled with Bilsten front shocks, it's great!

In the rear I'm running Old Man Emu 948 coil springs with 2 trim packs. The shocks are Monroe coil over/ load level shocks to combat the weight of the rear bumper system.

I installed a full set of Rustys skid plates for the underside, JKS rock sliders and a Rocklizard Fabrications full rear bumper system with tire carrier, hi-lift jack holder and jerry can rig. I also installed an airflow snorkel.

The current tire set up is 31x10.50x15 BFG KM2 and I'm running 4:10 gears with a limited slip.

This rig has been great, considering it's not what I had been use to (YJ's and XJ's). It primarily used as my daily driver and weekend camping/ exploration rig.

At the time when I built it/ still am I never anticipated it to look the way it does, so my pictures are scattered everywhere on phones , hard drives and memory cards. So here's a few more recent photos from this past spring and summer.

TangoBlue, thanks I'll do my best. Hoping to make some events again this summer.

Matthewp, thanks! They are "rarer" rigs. Most people who may lift them only do so for the aesthetics! I'm sure you can relate, getting other non mainstream aftermarket parts can be a chore! It's no 4door wrangler or 80/100 series cruiser, but it does what I need it to do!

Today I finally added my Trasharoo. I'm sure it'll get some use this weekend while we're camping!
