How it all started. My wife aka: Katie Scarlett wanted a open 4x4 for her first music video. I ended up driving it to and from the video shoot, as seen below and well fell in love.
So 4 months later I found mine. December 2014. The photo below is funny as I had a mini as a rental.
Now the story and upgrades shall be added soon.
So the first thing I wanted to do is change all the fluids, spark plug, filters including radiator hoses. I even recorded the compression of each cylinder for my records, see the photos below. It was interesting changing the spark plugs on this truck without even opening the hood! I went thru the wheel wells.
Well, after about 60 miles of owning the Bronco the the engine started to lose oil pressure. I had metal shavings in the oil pan:
After some thought well I ordered a CRATE engine directly from FORD Racing:
The old 302 engine came out. And I sold the block and heads for $300.
By end of January 2014 the new 302 was in the Bronco.
In the beginning of March I was working on adding a stereo to the truck. A overhead center console from BC Broncos. Thanks to my dad for coming over and helping out!
Towards the end of March the Bronco had a few hundreds miles on it and ready for its first trip. So we drove to Anza Borrego to 4x4 with our friends. Here is a picture they took of my truck. This trip I learned. That the truck needs rubber! There was no rubber door seals so the doors shook so loud it was not funny! My overhead center console was hitting the roll bar and needed help. And well I thru my hi-lift in the back and well it bounced all over the place!! LOL it was a loud mess of noise.
But nothing a few parts could not solve:
Went for a drive with the wife. It was hot so the top was down and we ended up having milkshakes and drove back.
Starting designing a custom center console for my ham radio and cb radio. The tuffy boxes were to wide as my Bronco has a hand e-brake.
When to BBBB June 2014 (Big Bear Bronco Bash) with my Dad.
July 2014 after driving around the city and streets and offroad. Decided that offroad the external vaccum pump was great as if the engine stalls you still have brakes, but on the street and highway you need the stopping power just in case!
October 2014 back to Big Bear for BroncOctober Fest with my Dad. This time John and Norma took me under their wing and started to show me what this truck could do.
Took a drive and ended up here:
Besides the rubber doors that I got just after my first trip out to Anza. While working on the ham radio and cb install I bought dampening material for the door panels. This made the doors sound solid and less noisy. And well I was going to be headed back out to Anza and I wanted the Bronco to be ready.
The speakers that came with the overhead center console died. They were junk. I got a good pair only think is bad is a good pair of speakers the same size ready aren't. The housing/rear/magnet is bigger. This was a task! To make a round hole in sheet metal bigger was not fun. As it could not be removed and had to be done in place, but I did it over two nights..... And some new windshield wipers.
November 2015, back to Anza Borreggo for Bronco Daze. And I won a CO2 tank!!
END OF 2014.
January 2015 Calico:
New Door arm-rests & CO2 tank installed and a interior wash:
February 2015 decided to take a drive and ended up at the Beverly Hills Hotel. WOW I got front row parking with the Bronco.
Twin sticks got an upgrade:
March 2015 DVR with my friend. This was a fun trip that was planned to be a weekend trip that ended up being a day trip, 20 hours. While leading the trail run and flexing I pinched a u-joint. Not knowing something was making a squeaking noise on my way home it I was happy it did not break.
