Interesting concept, looks like the kickstarter died but would have been cool if they completed it.

Would be pretty useful in the open desert if the winds were not crazy.

That's pretty awesome. Could be very useful.
I wouldn't look forward to the day they make it mainstream and you see 15 of the green ones marking campsites out in the backcountry.

In the desert world, the balloons were once uncommon, you could easily find your campsite by the marker balloon. These days they are a dime a dozen, the more balloons you're flying in camp, the cooler you are or some similar scenario.
