UPDATE: I got "Rowdy" back from receiving new Heads, Head Gasket, Radiator, Water Pump, plugs, wires, coolant flush, oil change and runs like a top. Now laundry list for this weekend (Training for the 15 year old kiddo as it is HIS truck after all).
1. ATF Engine Flush
2. Changing oil again with Rotella T 15w40 and Mobil 1 High Capacity filter.
3. Servicing the drive shafts (lucky to have serviceable shafts)
4. Changing Transmission fluid and filter.
5. Changing Diff Fluid
6. Changing Transfer Case Fluid
7. replacing Exhaust gaskets (I hate noises..LOL perhaps I bought the wrong truck)
8. WD40 the transfer case solenoid (hopefully won't need to replace)
9. Finally addressing all the little rattles that could use tightening.
The truck is strong, but being the perfectionist, there will be some serious sweat and tears put in over the next few months. I gave him the option of a newer vehicle, but he wanted a D2 PERIOD DOT END OF SENTENCE. I figure this will be a life lesson for him and teach him patience and attention to detail. plus he will probably appreciate this vehicle more than a new one as it will have his blood sweat and tears in it.
I have no records for this vehicle and we bought it from a little 18 year old girl that freaked out when she found out how much a head gasket service cost. Obviously, we still have some items I want to address before I turn him loose with it. I will be replacing the brake lines, rotors and pads (I might even replace the calipers). Also, will service the hubs and bearings (replace if needed). Exhaust could probably use some updating as well. FINALLY, RECOVERY GEAR and teaching him how and when to use. Debating on whether or not to purchase a new ACE pump and hook that back up or leave it bypassed. My gut tells me to take it to factory as that is how this truck was designed, besides I am getting sick of seeing the ACE yellow light on the dash (I do NOT believe in masking warning lights for ANY reason).
