Come on out to camp in Pismo at the Oceano Dunes!
Pismo.jpg

Location:Oceano Dunes SVRA (aka Pisbro, Pismo)
When: May 4th-6th
Duration: Overnighter

Difficulty:2-5 (Scale of 1-10)

Meet Location and Time: Camp location will be back in the dunes TBD depending on number of rigs that want to show up. I'll provide GPS coordinates. (http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1207)

Rig Requirements:
NONE - Really? Yes. For sure? Yes. Your Volvo station wagon is welcome.
You will need an orange flag. Prepurchase on Amazon or buy on the beach. I cram mine in my tailgate. An easy attachment is called a "Stickywhip" (google that)
Suggested vehicle mods (not required):
4x4
Recovery points front and rear

Communication: HAM 146.585

What to Bring with you:

Good attitude and willingness to help out, I am out here to have fun and don't do drama.
Bring food, drinks, Sunscreen, personal toiletries (there are vault toilets), shade (tarp, awning, EZ Up - there is no shade available).
Recovery gear if you have it (mostly a strap and recovery point is the most important).

Feel Free to ask questions, I am sure I forgot something.

We'll plan to cruise the dunes, ride motorcycles (if you have one), check out the sand drags, and share stories around a campfire. We always watch the sunset go down. We can get creative with a potluck or bbq competition. (There are also many restaurants within a 5 minute drive)

Who's coming?

Wow. Sand. Lots of sand... like I haven't seen/eaten enough sand in my career. :D

Heads up, folks, I just realized that this is Cinco de Mayo weekend. Pisbro is likely get full and maybe even sold out. Reservations are recommended.

BUT - They want an $8 fee to reserve a $10 space overnight!

Campsite: https://goo.gl/maps/19LwxvxmZEG2 (camp upwind (north) of the potty)
Backup campsite: https://goo.gl/maps/hHmXXHjiUT12 (also has a potty)
Brittni and I will have our trailer, so we'll keep in touch with y'all about where we get stuck. (aka campsite backup 3)

Look for a large Dutton Plumbing truck and a white Ford F-150 with BFGoodrich decals and a travel trailer. See you in the dunes!

*The forecast for the launch in Lompoc is expected to be foggy, so you won't see it from the beach.*
