Leaving tomorrow for Missouri

We had to change our plans from exploring & dispersed camping in Spring Creek Oklahoma due to the extreme hot temperatures to Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri, the weather is 6 to 9 degrees cooler.

We're going to wing it on this adventure for our destination to go. We know it will be in the Mark Twain National Forest whatever looks good. Truck has been serviced, went through my recovery gear underneath the rear seat, gone through the trailer: bedding changed, battery charged, new 5lb propane bottle filled & mount installed, @, serviced my offroad coupler, gone through all the camping gear, food is in Engel fridge.

All is left is to load the clothing, towels in camper, load the fridge, cooler & dry goods back of the bed of my truck.

We seen some great country in the southeast of Missouri Ozarks, going through all the micro small satellite communities towards Mark Twain National Forest.

The temp's were extremely high pushing triple digit with heat index of 118. The horse flies where out in full force in Mark Twain National Forest @ the 1st stop over in the National Forest, the wife loved the country but between the heat index & horse flies I can tell she wasn't enjoying it.

So I decided to pack up the next morning & headed for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) in Kissee Mills, Missouri which they had shore power. Found a site right on the lake, I can tell mother was happy, to be quite honest if she is happy then I'll sit this trip & make the best of it (these places are not my cup of tea) but as long as she was happy with air conditioning while sleeping then I can sit this out for her.

Our little rat terrier spent the entire time in the camper. The nights where decent, no horse flies, fired up the grill & grilled a tri tip, baked potatoes in the Coleman Stove & green garden salad.

Sorry, no trail pic's

Sounds like a good trip with some good food! How you like that oven?
the oven works pretty good, I cut a soldering blanket to fit the oven to help keep the heat in & have a TruTel thermometer on top to keep a accurate temp. The oven will fluxuate in temperature about 10 to 18 degrees then back down to the set temperature during a 45 minute cook time.
