We seem to go through awnings (Bundatec, ARB, and now Eezi-Awn) like some folks go through shoes…trying to find the best fit and what will last a long time. From our previous blog, you may remember that we had the bright yellow “school bus” off-road camper trailer with the 3-sided Bundatec Awning. Since we upgraded from having to pull a trailer to now having a Four Wheel Camper-Swift model mounted to our flatbed Tacoma, we decided to try out the right side mount Eezi-Awn Bat 270 awning, which provides 270-degree coverage from the passenger side of the camper to the back door by way of four panels measuring 95”x82”x82”.

There is also an option for a left side mount if needed for your application. It is a great design that is actually very quick and easy to deploy and take down by one person in less than a minute! We have used the awning quite a bit since its purchase and it might just take the top spot for our favorite awning so far. We use this awning far more than any other awning we have owned due to how easy and quick it is to setup and pack away. Although the top-notch quality is there, the stoutness is not quite what we had in mind for what we wanted at this price point.

It can be self-supported and is advertized as free-standing; however, unlike the Bundatec, we would not trust it to be in any amount of wind without the adjustable support legs being staked down. It features a full powder coated aluminum frame construction with 260-gram waterproof ripstop canvas, height-adjustable support legs, and comes in a nifty UV-resistant PVC bag (which the label happens to match the bright yellow on my wheels and Old Man Emu sticker) that the awning easily fits inside of. All together, the awning weighs in at 46lbs. One of the nice options (that we don’t have yet) is the ability to close in the sides of the awning with an available wall kit. With the awning closed in, it adds 80 sq ft of additional space that is sheltered away from the elements.

As nice of an awning as it is, I don’t anticipate having it too long as we have our sights set on a more robust self-supported 3-sided awning. If any one is in the market for a Ez-Awn 270 shoot us a PM!
