Austin’s Jeep JLU - “The Billet Bullitt”

What is this muffler delete about? What's wrong with the OEM one?

:coffee
Nothing wrong with the stock one in particular. I had removed the muffler on my JK due to the large and low hanging nature of it after I crunched the tail pipe. So on the JL it’s just preventative maintenance for me, plus I like the sound without. I’ll post up some more pics after I install it.

Interesting!

Not to be a downer, but exhausting under a vehicle can be bad... ask Ford.
Oh I definitely agree. This is a replacement straight pipe section that eliminates the bends going in to the muffler and comes out the back just below the bumper/fascia area.

Added a Rhino Rack Vortex SG2 Rack to the JL today. The snow has started to fall and I need a place to stash the boots and boards so the box is back up top. Bonus that the old JK rack fits the new JL.

Put on the hitch receiver and ditched the rear plastic bumper. More clearance, Clarence. Will be adding an aftermarket bumper in the near future hopefully.

Sunday projects: Installing the Rancho 3.5” lift with Evo Overlander control arm brackets and rear track-bar bracket. Also adding a Steersmarts front track-bar.

Finished up the muffler removal today. Install was straightforward, and there is a ton of clearance underneath now. Sound is definitely different from stock of course but sounds way better than the JK did. I’ll be running it on the freeway for a couple hours tomorrow so that will be the tell on if it has a drone or not. The factory resonator is still on so I think that gives it a nice tone.

A dry day means installing the Evo rear trackbar bracket. Get that roll center back where it needs to be. Improvement was felt immediately in the drive. I’ll be upgrading to a heavy duty adjustable trackbar in the future as this bracket is designed to work with a stock or adjustable bar.
