Starting a thread as I have some building and modifications that I'm doing to my new to me offroad teardrop trailer:
1. How I got it:
2. Then, we started to get it out of the rough start phase. We decided to paint and lay down primer for eventual faux marble/brick backsplash.
3. We were about to go on a test trip, so I added in the solar power that has moved with me from the Westfalia van to the man van and now to the trailer. It's not a permanent mount. I want to park in the shade and run the panel out to the sun. The connector is Perko marine grade waterproof. It goes inside to a Sunsaver 6.
4. We had a fun first trip!
5. Came back and I finished up the rear galley.
Next up, painting the inside. We're going with a very light blue for the cieling to add light, the same blue walls as the galley and the same dark blue trim. I'll also be redoing all of the wiring since the builder used speaker wire for primary wires. Now, don't get me wrong, this isn't built to go rock crawling, but then again, I wouldn't go rock crawling with a trailer anyways. Most of the crawler trails don't go to campsites anyways. Most of our campsites are down 4x4 accessible roads which this trailer will do fine with thoughtful pulling. It pulled great going on our first trip.
Other future mods include:
1. running water for onboard hot shower
2. propane lines for shower and fast connect to stove
3. drop down tray/cutting board space
4. hopefully a door/tray for the fridge on a pullout in rear storage although I'm torn on that because I like the fridge in the car for cold drinks on the trail...although sometimes I break eggs (even in the plastic container )
5. LED lighting conversion + LED lights in the galley
