PLEASE do not abandon your trash bag/s in camp for "someone else" to remove, unfortunately it has happened in the past and that was not cool... please help me on this important logistical portion of the cleanup and pack out more than you pack in.

BLM is providing a dumpster for us to fill, but we still need to be 100% self sufficient and uphold our good name with the BLM!

SIX YEARS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE CLEANING UP TRAILS ON PUBLIC LANDS!

Comm Plan:

The Vision:

1. No Fees: Come as you are!
2. Laid Back: No hard schedule other than the date.
3. Mountain Man Rendezvous and Adventurist Meet and Greet.
4. Swap Meet: Bring things to trade or sell or barter (this is NOT a commercial event!).
5. Meet People: Network, maybe teach each other a few things and check out cool rigs.
6. Real Bonfire Chat: With a real fire. Share food and beverages of your choice.
7. Desert Rendezvous Cleanup: We aim to pack out more than we pack in!

The Ground Rules:

1. Common Sense.
2. Respect for Others.
3. Self Sufficiency.
4. Tread Lightly.
5. Leave it better than the way we found it!
6. Speed limit in camp is 5 mph, strictly enforced for safety (kids, dogs). Make no dust.
7. Quiet time in camp is midnight.

- The intent is to be inclusive and promote max participation - this means family friendly, dog friendly (supervised/common sense).

- Please note that all trash collected during the Cleanup is the responsibility of the individual to remove; this is not a commercial event so dumpsters will NOT be provided. All trash collected must be packed out by the individual attendees and the area left spotless!

- Please note that there will be no potable water and no restrooms i.e. porta johns in the Desert. Bring your own!

DISCLAIMER:
A.
COME PREPARED - SELF SUFFICIENCY (VEHICLE AND SELF) AND THE CAPABILITY TO TREAD LIGHTLY WILL BE THE ONLY REQUIREMENTS TO ATTEND.
B. YOU ASSUME ALL LIABILITY FOR YOURSELF. PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK ON PUBLIC LANDS.
C. WE REPRESENT THIS COMMUNITY AND WILL ADHERE TO OUR COMMUNITY STANDARDS OF CONDUCT.
D. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE FUN OR ELSE!

****************************************************************************************************
A NOTE ABOUT VENDORS:
While this is not a commercial event, in keeping with the tradition which began at the first SoCal Desert Rendezvous back in 2011, vendors are encouraged to attend and if they happen to sell a few things to friends out of the back of their rig that's their beeswax. Just no tables, Ezy-ups etc. Again, this is not a commercial event this is just for fun.

Vendors are people too and I know they look forward to events where they can unwind and just be themselves vice SEMA, Overland Expo, Outdoor Retailer etc. That's what the Rendezvous events are all about so if you work in this industry, but don't want to work, come on out!

If you are a vendor and are interested in getting in on sponsorship or the raffle please contact me via PM... thanks.

CLEANUP CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS:
American Adventurist, Tread Lightly and the Bureau of Land Management are teaming up to eliminate trash on public lands for the 6th year in a row!

Tread lightly colour logo.jpg

First, here is timeline and the map of the cleanup site for reference:

SAT:
0900 Desert Cleanup - All Hands

1200 Desert Cleanup Trash Photo at dumpster/Group Photo. Raffle tickets disbursed to participants.

DRV 16 CLEANUP AREA.jpg

Note that we will start at the property line of the state park to the west and move east along the RR tracks cleaning up shooter trash for a mile or so - see green box above and map from BLM depicting the area of concern.

In a Nutshell:

1. Muster by the RR tracks across from camp at 0900 for SAFETY BRIEF. See cleanup area in green box on map above, basic idea is that area focused on the shooter trash to be seen south of the RR tracks. Safety and situational awareness are key. We're not going more than 50 meters north of the RR tracks on foot looking for distant trash - keep it simple and safe. This will take a bit and is a good walk - it will be strenuous. I recommend hat, brightly colored clothing and hydration source (Camelback etc) - we will move as a group for safety.

2. Random folks may be out there on saturday. I will lead and "walk the tracks" enacting a cease fire the old fashioned way if anyone is there ahead of our cleanup team on foot (you guys). We will finish ("ENDEX") NLT 1200 where we will take the cleanup group photo and dole out raffle tickets to those who did the work. Easy day, and I will lead this on foot myself. Please follow directions so I can keep this safe, fun and easy!

3. If you don't help cleanup the shooter trash, you don't get a raffle ticket. RSVP alone does not guarantee a raffle ticket :lawyer

4. Trash bags are NOT provided. Bring your own.

5. BLM is providing a 30 yard dumpster that will be up somewhere between the turn off from Split Mtn and the State Park/BLM boundary signs along the RR track there - should be the same spot as 2015 unless the driver screws up. ALL trash and dunnage goes in the dumpster!

6. NO DRINKING during this evolution - snakes and duds and danger require your full awareness!

I call BS because the 1800 timeline was not met. It's like the Army is in charge here...

But: In. Will bring guns, booze, targets and Jaxx.

Edit: I'm right after Craig! See you there!

Interestingly enough, we had some technical difficulties RIGHT AT the appointed time... good way to find out who was paying attention!

You can count us in as always Dave. :)
