Already has a 2-in lift on it. It also has the icon rear springs that I have on my FJ. Not the same type. The same springs.

I gave them to my brother. My brother bought the 4Runner and put the springs on it. I keep borrowing this 4Runner and when he put it up for sale I decided to buy it.

Now I'm scraping rust off the frame in the driveway.

We had one back in the day….2006 with the V8. It rolled pretty good. Though it got crusty just like yours.

I know the V8 was a full-time four-wheel drive. This is got 2H, 2L, and 4L switch selector on the dash same style as my Tacoma with the center diff locker to the left of the steering wheel. I guess if I wanted to I can keep it in 4H if there's a mix of dry pavement and ice on the road.

Brakes replaced and rotors turned. The only thing salvageable from the exhaust was the cats. I'm okay with that. The rear gas tank straps had rusted out. That was an important discovery.

Between the purchase of the vehicle and fixing everything I'm up to $9,500. With the current market I can probably turn around and sell it for $15k.

A little bit of shiny in amongst the rust and corrosion.

Think I have a name for it.

The Aluminum Falcon

Some things name themselves.

I posted my rust scraping on a 4Runner group on Facebook and someone made the comment that it looks like a painted hooker. They really didn't understand that things don't rust in a nice even layer and in the midst of me, as well as others, bringing them up to speed we began referring to the 4Runner as the "Painted Hooker".

And so this experiment ends after a year and less than 2000 miles. Two gas guzzlers with so many overlapping functions just didn't cut it.

Moving on.
