1957 VW Baja Bug

With a buddies help got the brakes bled adjusted the clutch again and headed out on the maiden voyage down the street half way down sounded like a can of loose change in the back

Got stuck in second at the street crossing got it back into first turned around and half way home before major clutch slippage

Back in the drive we dropped the motor only to find the one thing we didn't replace - the clutch had destroyed itself

Time for a new clutch

The list of parts was long but was a awesome feeling to put something back together with old and new parts

Cruised up to old town Tustin and got waves from other beetle owners on the road

Going to get some led rear lights like this to convert the 6v to our now 12v bug

I have a '73 super that I've owned for 20 years. Currently sits with a 2187 that is really built up. I built the car myself from the ground up and am a huge aircooled guy, so if you get stuck drop me a message.

If you can find a straight split window without much rot for a good price then jump on it! Their prices have exploded, even bay windows are pulling a premium

Spent most of the afternoon removing rust from the headers and front wheels

We went with a off white vs white so we still need to paint the back wheels but we stripped them and my daughter did the painting

Also removed rust on the headers with navel jelly and put a 2000 degree paint under the 500 degree engine paint so we will see if it holds up any better

Drove around today and all I can say is that heat primer smells terrible but at least is didn't burn off yet - parked next to another German performance vehicle at the post office and almost got back in the wrong car

Is that the dual sender? It looks like a pressure sender. Are you running it to more than just the idiot light (oil light)? I don't see a fuel filter in line in the photos, are you running one? Is it one of those EMPI glass filters (please say no, that's how fires start)?
