Maxterra's oh-six Xterra. Trip pics updated 11-22-2016

Some build thread updates from earlier this year:

Forever since I've updated my build.

Got the switchpros 8100 lighting control system in. Added aurora 40" 10w hybrid front light bar, 5w rear floods and 4 kawell side lights. Also 6 all4offroad flexpro rock lights underneath so my 8 lighting circuits are filled ( existing aurora 20" bumper bar, floods and amber fogs in the bumper).

Light panel within easy reach. New rocker switches again since I changed everything around again.

Decided less than a couple weeks before GONEmoab to finally do the gear change, 2" BL, 35's (great idea[emoji848]). Nothing like the last minute, since I have soooo much free time (not).

Pulled out rear axle and front diff to take to shop for installation of 4:56 gears.

Then did the body lift install. Cleaned up and repainted the frame and suspension components while everything was out. Replaced a lot of fasteners.
Had a DS wheel sensor always giving me connectivity problems. Found some good weatherproof connectors on Amazon and replaced that one. Still need to do other side.

While the front diff was out, figured this was a great time to install the DC Power 180amp alternator from RuggedRocks. Was still tight space, but I can only imagine how tight with the diff in.

Reinstalled diffs and hooked everything back up underneath.

Had to cut the back of the front fenders for the 35's as the 33's just barely cleared.

Wanted to retain the plastic fender liners and put the fender lip back in for strength and to attach the liner back to.
Figured I'd try out a pneumatic panel flanger to give me a good bend start and then I could finish it with a hammer and dolly. Planning on doing bed liner over both fenders and low down the side as I'm so scratched up and sandblasted so the fender face won't have to be perfect.

Laying out the fender cut and allowing for 7/16" lip and blend it to existing lip. Cut for the blend.

Even the face of the fender came out really nice. If I was all anal about it, a little hammer dolly work on the face and could get it perfect and repaint fender and you'd never know. I just didn't want to knock paint off of face and have to deal with it now. Bed line will take care of it!

Oh. While doing body lift, install the Klein air horn which just barely fit. Got OBA, so gotta have a horn (very loud!)

And when I did body lift, in removing air box, found my snorkel elbow had come undone on last trip (wondered what that rattle was). Resealed and put a screw thru elbow so it won't come undone again. Also replaced the cheap plastic inserts in the windshield post for the brace with rivnuts. Nice and tight now.

Needed to finish up rock lights so I could run the Fins and Things night run at GONE, so doing that afternoon before we left.

A few more of Capitol Reef

Horse canyon was a dry wash that we ran for miles and was a blast.

The waterpocket fold that runs for MILES! Pretty awesome sight.

Time for a little updating, since I've not been out since the last picture posting. Just working, and working....

Our local club, Utah Xterra Owners Club (UXOC) does an annual early spring run, following the Pony Express Route, Starting in Lehi, UT and ending up In Gold Hill Utah, before we have a late dinner in Wendover, NV.
Like 370 miles for me, and 15 hour day, but a fun trip after a long, cold winter.

Day turned out to be quite nice, considering the lousy winter weather lately. Roads varied from 4" fresh snow at the start to varying degrees of mudiness, to even dusty conditions. Warm enough to get out and visit and explore at the various stops along the way. 14 rigs in attendance, and several new faces in the mix, which is great.

First stop of the dirt portion out by Faust to air down.
