Tomales Bay Kayak Camping

Me and the wife went Kayak camping on Tomales Bay in 2010 for the first time.
It was cool, there were a whole bunch of Bat rays and a few Leopard Sharks too.
We camped at a couple of the beaches for 2 nights and had a wonderful trip.
We had to walk across a mud flat at the putin cause the tide was out early in the morning. Lucky for us it wasn't too bad though.
I saw some kayakers on the news recently at Drakes Estero who had to be rescued cause they were stuck up to their thighs in the muck.
We paddled out, at first it was calm but the wind picked up and tide was rolling in with the waves crashing over our bows, making for an even more exciting trip.
There have been a few Great White sightings in Tomales out by Hog Island over the years but we didn't see any, I think! I do remember seeing something below my boat large and grey and bigger that my 16 foot yak! But I didn't dare say anything to the wife, she was already screaming when the bat rays and leopard sharks swam by her.

This was shot with a Panasonic PVG-400 as I recall and edited with Pinnacle Studios software.

We've since gone back with my Brother and his wife and made it out to Hog Island in July 2011. There is another video of that trip on our Youtube channel if you haven't been there just search for M&M Overland Adventures.

We are going to go again soon and hopefully get to see some of the bioluminescence that is suppose be visible this time of year.
So we will get some night kayaking in and maybe I can get some nice nightlapse video with the new GoPro Hero 4 Silver camera.
If you want to visit this area and kayak camp go to Reserve America search for Point Reyes and boat in sites on Tomales Bay, it's like being on desert island.
